Background The project is issued by the Veterans Health Administration under the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System. The goal is to correct the mechanical fixtures and piping for Buildings 2, 4, and 4A at the East Campus located in Tuskegee, AL. This project aims to enhance the domestic water system and fire protection infrastructure within these buildings. Work Details The contractor is responsible for installing dual parallel piping for domestic water and fire protection for buildings 2, 4, and 4A, including backflow preventers. Specific tasks include: - Installation of a reduced principle backflow preventer assembly (BFPA) for Building 2, located close to the water main's entry into the building. - Reconfiguration of the existing BFPA system for Buildings 4 and 4A to install separate BFPA units for each building. - The BFPA for Building 4 will be located in the sub-basement service room SB-1, while Building 4A's BFPA will be floor-mounted along the east wall of the same service room. - Replacement of all water main piping with a new tie-in point created to connect to the new system. - Insulation of the new 4” diameter water main serving both buildings. All work must comply with VA specifications, NFPA Life Safety Code, and applicable building codes. Period of Performance The contract will be performed over a period of 90 calendar days from the date of contract award or notice to proceed.
