Background The U.S. Forest Service, Lassen National Forest, is issuing this solicitation for the replacement of the engine in Fire Apparatus Unit 6372. The objective is to restore the vehicle to full operational capability, reliability, and safety compliance. This contract aims to ensure that the fire engine meets all necessary operational standards and is ready for use in firefighting activities. Work Details The contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, parts, and components necessary for the repair of the engine. Specific tasks include: - Safely removing the failed engine along with associated systems (cooling, fuel, electrical, exhaust, mounts). - Inspecting and repairing or replacing mounting frame, transmission connection, driveshaft alignment, and related systems as needed. - Installing a certified OEM or equivalent replacement engine compatible with vehicle specifications. - Reconnecting and refurbishing ancillary systems (cooling, fuel, air intake, exhaust, electrical harnesses, sensors, ECU) as required. - Conducting post-installation start-up procedures including bleeding and filling the cooling system and performing initial calibration according to OEM guidelines. - Testing to verify engine operation including idle checks, basic load checks, oil pressure monitoring, coolant temperature assessment, and ensuring absence of leaks. - Updating maintenance/service records and completing engine warranty documentation. - Providing final authorization noting vehicle readiness. Period of Performance The contract will be performed from April 15, 2026 to July 30, 2026. Place of Performance The work will take place at the contractor's facility after towing the equipment from its current location at McCandless Truck Center in Sparks, NV to the place of repair.
