Background The Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) is the largest school district in North Carolina and the 15th largest in the United States, serving approximately 161,000 students across 203 schools. The district aims to ensure safety and compliance with standards for its playgrounds through annual inspections conducted by a third-party vendor. This contract seeks to secure such services for playgrounds owned, leased, or possessed by WCPSS. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for conducting annual inspections of 443 playgrounds located at 128 school sites within WCPSS. Inspections will utilize the Playground Checklist Report (PCR) provided by Risk Management and Safety, which must include Maximo asset numbers and clear priority rankings for identified issues. All documentation must be typed and submitted along with color photographs via Google share drive within seven days of inspection. Immediate reporting is required for any issues that could cause permanent disability or loss of body parts. The contractor must have a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification with at least five years of experience. They will cover all costs related to transportation, time, and materials necessary for the inspections. Period of Performance The contract will commence on July 1, 2026, and continue through June 30, 2029, with an option for WCPSS to extend the contract for two additional one-year periods. Place of Performance The services will be performed at various locations throughout Wake County, North Carolina, specifically at WCPSS facilities. Bidder Requirements Bidders must not be debarred from doing business with Wake County or the federal government. They are required to provide proof of CPSI certification and relevant experience in playground safety inspections. Additionally, bidders must comply with insurance requirements as outlined in Exhibit B of the solicitation.
