Summary (Newest Update)

Background The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard, CEU Providence, is initiating a project to maintain life/safety systems at the U.S. Coast Guard Base Boston, MA. The project aims to replace the antiquated fire alarm system to ensure safety and compliance with current standards. Work Details The project involves retrofitting the existing Simplex 4100U Fire Alarm Control Unit in each of the nine buildings with a Simplex 4100S retrofit kit. It includes replacing all existing smoke and heat detectors with Simplex manufactured equivalents and adding new Simplex fire alarm devices as determined by the Designer of Record (DOR). This sole source procurement is justified as Johnson Controls, Inc. is the only manufacturer that provides the necessary equipment and support for system interoperability, ensuring reliability and reducing maintenance costs.
