Background The Carson National Forest is undertaking road maintenance activities on the Tres Piedras Ranger District. The goal of this contract is to enhance and maintain the road infrastructure within the forest, ensuring safe and efficient access for both recreational and operational purposes. Work Details The construction tasks under this contract include: 1. Mobilization; 2. Drain dip construction involving excavation and compaction of approximately 180 cubic yards of native material; 3. Road widening, which includes approximately 1390 cubic yards of excavation and compaction to achieve a total road width of twelve (12) feet; 4. Curve widening with approximately 70 cubic yards of native material; 5. Road obliteration using method 1 over a distance of 0.4 miles; 6. New construction involving clearing and grubbing over 0.6 miles and approximately 600 cubic yards of excavation and compaction; 7. Rip rap placement, machine placed, class 4, totaling 20 tons; 8. Road reconditioning covering a total of 10.8 miles, which includes ditch maintenance, shoulder maintenance, roadbed maintenance, and aggregate surface maintenance where applicable; 9. Culvert installation with a specification for a 57” x 38” arched corrugated metal pipe thirty (30) feet in length placed on approximately 30 cubic feet of uncompacted bedding material. Place of Performance The geographic location for the performance of these construction projects is within the Carson National Forest, specifically on the Tres Piedras Ranger District.
