Background The Department of the Interior, through the Lakewood Major Acquisition Buying Office, is issuing a Request for Quotes (RFQ) for the National Park Service project at Chamizal National Memorial in El Paso, TX. The goal of this contract is to replace shade structures in the picnic area to enhance visitor experience and safety. Work Details The project involves the demolition and replacement of a total of 9 metal shade structures. The tasks include: - Disassembly and removal of existing shade structures, including posts anchored in the existing concrete slab. - Restoration of any concrete slab material damaged during demolition. - Saw cutting all removed concrete for uniform restoration. - Ensuring that the thickness of restored concrete matches the existing slab except where post anchoring concrete will be placed. The replacement work will consist of installing 4 structure posts set inground at a depth of 24 inches in 4,000 psi concrete mixed per manufacturer specifications. Additionally, 5 rafters will be welded to the posts and support frame, with all cuts being clean saw cuts and joints welded without perforations.
