Background The National Park Service (NPS), part of the Department of the Interior, is conducting market research to identify qualified contractors for the planned remodel of the Visitor Center at Golden Spike National Historical Park. The goal of this project is to refurbish and modernize the Visitor Center, which serves approximately 63,000 annual visitors, enhancing their experience and addressing deferred maintenance issues. Work Details The project involves refurbishing a 4,500-square-foot Visitor Center built in 1968. Key tasks include: - Updating interior spaces with new wall, floor, and ceiling finishes; - Replacing outdated electrical components with energy-efficient lighting; - Adjusting circuits for new exhibits and office space; - Upgrading nearly 60-year-old HVAC systems; - Making minor modifications to fire sprinklers, fire alarms, intrusion alarms, and communication systems; - Implementing rodent-proofing measures; - Conducting asbestos and lead paint abatement.
