Background Shaw Air Force Base is considering a requirement for the repair of Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems in Building 1122. This project aims to address restricted airflow issues caused by clogged coils and airway passages, ensuring that the HVAC system operates efficiently. The contract is anticipated to be under a small business set-aside program, with a focus on gathering information about potential contractors' capabilities and socio-economic status. Work Details The scope of work includes: 1. Performing a pre-construction test and balance (TAB) on all air handling units (AHUs) and VAV boxes, with data submitted to the government. 2. Maintaining HVAC system operation throughout the contract duration, limiting VAV shutdowns to one or two at a time. 3. Cleaning all VAVs by disconnecting and removing them from the system for thorough cleaning. 4. Installing access panels on all VAVs for maintenance ease, ensuring they are sealed to prevent air leakage during operation, with shop drawings submitted for approval. 5. Flushing all chilled water and hot water lines in the building to ensure proper flow according to as-built plans. 6. Installing side stream filters on both chilled and hot water pumps for continuous cleaning of the systems during operation. 7. Conducting a second TAB after cleaning and flushing to ensure the system matches as-built drawings. Place of Performance The construction projects will be performed at Shaw Air Force Base, specifically in Building 1122.
