This requirement is to provide all items, articles, materials, operations, or methods listed, mentioned or scheduled on the drawings and/or as specified herein, including all labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals necessary and required for completion of a lightning protection system (LPS) upgrade and inspection. The LPS system cables shall be up sized to AWG 4/0 (approximately 1 2 ) copper to bring the system up to code, and a small quantity of frayed cable will be replaced. The LPS inspection shall be compliant with the most current edition of NFPA 780. The Contractor shall provide and deliver to the United States Air Force a hard copy and a digital CD of the acceptance testing results and the UL Lightning Protection Inspection Certificate for the facility. The UL Lightning Protection Inspection Certificate shall be certified to NFPA 780 Chapter 8. The Contractor shall have attended and completed the Senior Inspector AMMO 50 training or equivalent. Specific tasks include: - Upsizing existing LPS system cables to AWG 4/0 (approximately ½”) copper to meet code requirements. - Replacing a small quantity of frayed cable. - Conducting an inspection compliant with NFPA 780. - Performing acceptance testing of the LPS at Building 1825 per Uniform Facilities Criteria (UFC), which includes identifying and inspecting all test points for grounding system connections and bonds, providing a sketch with identified test points, testing each grounding system connection or bond, recording resistance measurements, and submitting results along with a UL Lightning Protection Inspection Certificate certified to NFPA 780 Chapter 8. The contractor must also provide a detailed report of work accomplished along with hard copy and digital CD formats of acceptance testing results. Place of Performance The construction projects will be performed at Building 1825, Malmstrom Air Force Base, MT.
