Background The Board of Education of the County of Berkeley, Martinsburg, WV, is seeking sealed bids for Fire Alarm Testing at all Berkeley County Schools (BCS) locations in Berkeley County, WV. The goal of this contract is to ensure the safety and compliance of fire alarm systems across all BCS properties. The successful bidder will be responsible for conducting thorough testing of these systems to meet safety standards. Work Details The contractor will inspect fire alarm systems at all BCS schools and administrative buildings, including portable classrooms and annexes. Inspections must cover components such as: - Annunciators - Batteries - Flow and tamper switches - Smoke detectors - Heat detectors - Pull stations - Horn strobes - Door releases - Any other necessary components to ensure proper system operation. All testing must adhere to NFPA 72 standards. A written inspection report must be submitted after each inspection detailing any deficiencies and indicating whether the system passed or failed. If a system fails, the report must provide detailed explanations for the failure. Invoices for services rendered must be location-specific and itemized without additional fees. Period of Performance The contract will commence on June 1, 2026, with all fire alarm inspections required to be completed by August 19, 2026. The initial contract term is one year with potential extensions for up to two additional one-year terms if terms remain unchanged. Place of Performance All inspections will take place at various Berkeley County Schools locations in Berkeley County, WV. A complete list of locations is provided in Addendum A. They are required to submit professional licenses as mandated by local or state codes along with proof of general liability insurance and worker’s compensation insurance. Additionally, bidders must include signed affidavits such as the Bidders Affidavit and WV No Debt Affidavit. All businesses must be registered and compliant with West Virginia regulations prior to contract award.
