Background The Mesquite Independent School District is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide armed security officers for its elementary campuses. The goal of this contract is to enhance safety and security within the district, ensuring a secure environment for students and staff. The contract will be managed by the Executive Director of Safety & Security, who will coordinate all services under this agreement. Work Details The contractor must provide thirty-four (34) armed security officers for an estimated 187 days, corresponding to the number of teacher workdays across thirty-four elementary campuses. Each officer must have completed specific training including Active Shooter Response, De-escalation Response, CPR/First Aid, and others. Officers are expected to patrol the campus, identify security issues, maintain positive relationships with staff, intervene in potential threats, assist in drills, and complete hourly checks of exterior doors. The vendor must also supply uniforms that clearly display the company name and officer's last name. Additionally, all officers must have at least three years of related experience and be equipped with a smartphone for job-related tasks. Period of Performance The contract term is two (2) years with the possibility of three (3) one-year extensions. Services are set to begin no later than April 27, 2026. Place of Performance Services will be performed at various elementary campuses within the Mesquite Independent School District. Bidder Requirements Vendors must be licensed under Chapter 1702 of the Occupations Code and provide documentation confirming compliance with training requirements.
