Background The Asphalt Overlay Program is initiated by the Board of County Commissioners of Johnson County, Kansas, aimed at improving road infrastructure. The contract is specifically for overlaying, milling, pavement marking, and construction traffic control over 14.26 miles at various locations in unincorporated Johnson County. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks: 1) Asphalt Overlay (APWA 6-01) - 26,304 tons; 2) Cold Milling (Area) - 219,279 square yards; 3) Asphalt Patching - 150 cubic yards; 4) Pavement Marking (RR Symbols) - 7 each; 5) Pavement Marking (Paint) Yellow (4") - 47,510 linear feet; 6) Pavement Marking (Paint) White (4") - 63,656 linear feet; 7) Pavement Marking (Paint) White Stop Bars (24") - 60 linear feet; 8) Traffic Control - Lump Sum. All work must comply with the specifications outlined in Bid Request No. 2026-009. Period of Performance The contract work is to be completed within Forty (40) consecutive working days from the date when the Contract Time commences as specified in the Contract Documents. Place of Performance The work will be performed at various locations in unincorporated Johnson County, Kansas. Bidder Requirements Bidders must submit a bid bond equal to five percent (5%) of their total bid amount. They are required to provide Tax Clearance Certifications prior to issuance of the Notice To Proceed. Nonresident contractors must register with the Kansas Secretary of State if not already registered and comply with all local laws and regulations.
