Background The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) is seeking a qualified supplier to provide all materials necessary for rebuilding the wood boardwalk at the Point of Rocks visitor use area in Amargosa Valley, NV. The goal of this contract is to replace weathered and damaged components of the existing boardwalk to improve safety and ensure compliance with environmental conditions typical of the area. Work Details The contractor is required to supply all materials for the reconstruction of the boardwalk, including: - Weathered/damaged decking - Fasteners - Ties - Structural members - Handrails - Base supports All materials must be suitable for extreme temperature variations, high winds, and intense solar radiation. Specific requirements include: - Lumber must be pressure treated, dimensional, ground contact, dark brown color, and free from defects. - Screws must be equivalent to HeadLOC by FastenMaster, 4 ½ inches long with a washer style head. - Tie plates must be equivalent to Simpson Strong Tie in design and rating. - Boiled Linseed oil and Mineral Spirits must be equivalent to Sunnyside in five-gallon buckets.
