Background The project is initiated by the agency responsible for coastal management and restoration in Hancock County, Mississippi. The mission of this agency is to enhance coastal resilience and mitigate the impacts of storms on the shoreline. The goal of the contract is to implement shoreline improvements along approximately 5 miles of the mainland coast, specifically through the construction of a beach berm. Work Details The work includes the construction of a 150-foot-wide beach berm designed to improve coastal resilience and mitigate storm-related impacts. The berm will connect to either the elevation of the adjacent sidewalk along the existing seawall or the surrounding ground surface, depending on which is lower. The berm will extend approximately 150 feet seaward from the seawall. To complete this construction, an estimated 300,000 cubic yards of sand will be sourced from an upland location, trucked in, and placed along the project area. Place of Performance The construction projects will be performed along approximately 5 miles of the mainland coast in Hancock County, Mississippi.
