Background The Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) Code 612 has a requirement for material forging to support research and development in metallic material qualification, production, and sustainment. This includes engineering support for various Navy acquisition program offices. The goal of the contract is to develop and qualify high-performance materials for future Navy platforms, ensuring operational availability and sustainability. Work Details The contractor shall provide materials and services as specified in the Performance Work Statement (PWS). Tasks include melting, forging, heat treating, machining, and testing R&D steel qualification articles of various sizes and geometries. Testing will encompass mechanical conformance testing (Tensile, Charpy-V-Notch), Ultrasonic Inspection (UT), chemical analysis, and metallurgical evaluation. The contractor must supply forged test articles with tonnages up to 160,000 lbs., capable of melting and forging large components from various steel and stainless steel alloys. The contractor is expected to adhere to industry best practices in manufacturing these forgings. Adjustments to chemical composition may be made with approval from the Technical Point of Contact (TPOC). All physical qualification articles must be uniquely marked for traceability throughout the manufacturing process. Period of Performance The period of performance for the Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) is five years following the award date. Individual purchases under this agreement will have specific performance periods defined within data calls but will not exceed 12 months.
