Description of Requirement

The objective of this sole source award is to procure a benchtop steam generator, humidifier, and dry air heater in accordance with the attached specifications. The NAICS code for this requirement is 335210; the small business size standard is 1,500 employees. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes; however, interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. All information received by 2:00 PM Central Time on March 6, 2026 will be considered by the Government. Responses shall be submitted to Josh Dobereiner at josh.dobereiner@usda.gov. The e-mail subject line shall state: 1232SA26Q0126 Notice of Intent to Sole Source. Background The USDA/ARS intends to award a Firm fixed price sole source contract to Cellkraft AB, located in Stockholm, Sweden. The goal of this contract is to procure a benchtop steam generator, humidifier, and dry air heater that meets specific technical requirements. This equipment is essential for applications in research and industrial processes where precise control of temperature, humidity, and flow rate is critical. Work Details The contractor is required to deliver a benchtop unit that functions as a steam generator, humidifier, and dry air heater with the following specifications: 1) Benchtop unit not exceeding 12” x 20” x 22” (W x H x D). 2) Generates pure steam, heated humidified air or dry air with variable temperature, humidity, and flow rates. 3) Variable temperature heated tube to boost discharge stream temperature. 4) Microprocessor control and display for monitoring operating parameters. 5) Fully automatic operation with auto shut down features. 6) Warranty of one year. Additional technical requirements include: a minimum heater capacity of 1000 Watts; variable steam temperature from 120 to 180 °C; variable steam flow rate from 0 to 50 g/min; variable heated dry/humidified air from ambient to 150 °C; external temperature sensor; insulated braided stainless steel heated discharge tube length of 6 ft; wetted parts made of PTFE and stainless steel; alarm system for operational alerts; and power specifications of 208-230 VAC, three phase, 50-60 Hz. Period of Performance Delivery of the equipment is required no later than 120 days after the purchase order is provided to the vendor.
