Background The Department of State Hospitals - Metropolitan is seeking bids for a contractor to fulfill the role of Clinical Laboratory Director. This position involves providing clinical oversight of the Clinical Laboratory in accordance with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and ensuring compliance with state regulations and standards. The goal is to assist medical staff in delivering high-quality medical care while adhering to available resources. Work Details The contractor shall provide all necessary materials, supplies, tools, equipment, transportation, licenses, certifications, permits, insurance, and personnel required to deliver specialty physician services in pathology. Responsibilities include: 1. Fulfilling the role of Laboratory Director and ensuring compliance with CLIA requirements for laboratories performing high complexity testing. 2. Assuring that clinical evaluations and documentation meet standards set forth by Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations regarding community care licensing, the Joint Commission, and the Department of Justice. Period of Performance The anticipated term for any agreement resulting from this IFB is from June 1, 2026, through May 31, 2029. Place of Performance The services will be performed at the Department of State Hospitals - Metropolitan located at 11401 S. Bloomfield Avenue, Norwalk, CA 90650. Bidder Requirements Bidders must meet specific qualifications including: 1. Proof of legal right to do business in California. 2. Medical license issued by the Medical Board of California or Osteopathic Medical Board. 3. Board certification from the American Board of Pathology or American Osteopathic Board of Pathology. 4. CPR certification from the American Heart Association. 5. Valid DEA registration. 6. A minimum of three references from customers for similar services provided within the last two years.
