Summary (Newest Update)

Background The Miller-Rice Pile Dike Rehab project is initiated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, aimed at enhancing and connecting enrockments at various sections of the pile dike system located on the Columbia River in Wahkiakum County, Washington. The primary goal of this project is to improve sediment and channel management, redirect flow into the navigation channel, and provide bank protection. The existing pile dike system, originally constructed between 1922 and 1966, has undergone changes that have affected its hydraulic function, necessitating this rehabilitation effort. Work Details The project involves enhancing and connecting enrockments of existing Pile Dikes 23.81 and 23.71. Specific tasks include: raising the enrockment crest to elevation -11 feet NAVD88 at the north end of PD 23.71 and sloping it down to elevation -15 feet NAVD88 near the south end; uniformly raising the enrockment crest of PD 23.81 to elevation -11 feet NAVD88 from station 11+77 to station 18+81, then sloping it down to elevation -19 feet NAVD88 from station 18+81 to station 21+15; ensuring that the eastern end of PD 23.81 has a crest elevation of -19 feet NAVD88 from station 21+15 to station 21+38. Place of Performance The construction projects will be performed at various locations along the Columbia River in Wahkiakum County, Washington.
