Summary (Newest Update)

Background The U.S. Army Mission and Installation Contracting Command - Yuma Proving Ground (MICC-YPG) has awarded a Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP) Indefinite-Delivery Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract to Vaisala Incorporated for the continuous supply of radiosondes. This contract is essential for the Yuma Test Center (YTC) Meteorology Team, which utilizes these radiosondes as part of the Digi CORA® Sounding System at the Yuma Proving Ground, AZ. The estimated value of this contract is $3,525,000 over a five-year period, supporting not only YTC but also other Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) centers. Vaisala is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and holds all proprietary data and patent rights for their radiosondes, making them the only source capable of fulfilling this requirement. Work Details The contract involves the supply of Vaisala expendable RS41 GPS type radiosondes, specifically part numbers RS41-SG, RS41-SGM, and RS41-SGE. These radiosondes are integral to the Digi CORA Sounding System and are carried aloft by helium-filled balloons to collect meteorological data including pressure, temperature, humidity, wind speed, and wind direction. The ordering periods are divided into five one-year intervals from November 9, 2025, through November 8, 2030, with an annual maximum quantity of 4,000 radiosondes. The estimated costs per year are as follows: - Year 1: $705,000; - Year 2: $705,000; - Year 3: $705,000; - Year 4: $705,000; - Year 5: $705,000. The total maximum quantity per model per year is a minimum order of 10 units for each model. Period of Performance The ordering period will be divided into five one-year intervals from November 9, 2025 through November 8, 2030. Place of Performance The products will be delivered to the Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona and may also support other ATEC centers such as White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico; Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland; and Dugway Proving Ground in Utah.
