Background

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Program Contracting Activity Central (PCAC) is planning to solicit proposals for a single firm-fixed-price contract for the design-bid-build EHRM Infrastructure Upgrades Construction project 518-22-700 at the Bedford VA Medical Center (VAMC) located at 200 Springs Rd Bedford, MA 01730. The goal of this contract is to enhance the infrastructure and telecommunications capabilities at the facility.

Work Details

The contractor will prepare the project site for operations, which includes demolition and removal of existing site elements. The scope of work encompasses general construction, alterations, and necessary removal of existing structures. Key tasks include upgrading communications cabling in Telecommunications Rooms (TR) and the Main Computer Room (MCR) across multiple buildings on campus. The project involves phased replacement of the existing Main Computer Room building, installation of temporary fiber connections between existing and new MCRs, and enhancements to site infrastructure. Specific improvements include:

New Fiber Optic Cable

- New CAT 6a telecommunications cable to all locations - Work Area Outlets (WAO) - Racks - UPS - Power supplies - Associated electrical distribution equipment - New HVAC systems - New CCTV installations - New Fire Protection and Fire Alarm systems - A new Advanced Utility Monitoring System - New PACS and doors for all buildings involved in this project.

Period of Performance

Approximately 730 calendar days from the issuance of the notice to proceed.
