Background The Department of the Navy, Military Sealift Command (MSC) Norfolk is issuing a Class Justification and Approval (J&A) for the award modifications under contract N3220526C1204 for the Mid-Term Availability (MTA) of the USNS COMFORT (T-AH 20). This action is necessary to incorporate work items needed to comply with regulatory requirements set forth by the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, and American Bureau of Shipping. The original contract was awarded for $16,707,619.00 based on adequate competition. Work Details The work items detailed in the enclosure are essential to meet regulatory compliance requirements identified during inspections conducted by inspectors from the U.S. Coast Guard and/or American Bureau of Shipping along with the vessel’s crew. These deficiencies must be repaired prior to the vessel's departure to ensure compliance with Safety Management System objectives, attain Operational Availability, and maintain vessel configuration. The contract consists of 131 work items that were competitively awarded on December 16, 2025. Period of Performance The revised period of performance is from January 22, 2026, through May 03, 2026. Place of Performance The work will be performed at Alabama Shipyard.
