Summary (Newest Update)

Background The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Network Contracting Office (NCO) 20, is conducting market research to identify potential sources for Transcriptomic (RNA) and epigenomic (ATAC) sequencing in support of the Portland VA Medical Center (Portland VAMC). This research aims to understand mechanisms underpinning cachexia, particularly in veterans who are uniquely susceptible to sepsis, a major cause of death following trauma. The study focuses on the catabolic response to sepsis and seeks to identify novel therapeutic targets for improved treatment. Work Details The contract will cover the sequencing of 10-100 samples per year, including tasks such as: 1) Isolating RNA from tissues; 2) Performing quality control of RNA using a bioanalyzer or QuBit; 3) Conducting library preparation of RNA; 4) Sequencing RNA; 5) Optional analysis including alignment to reference genome; 6) Optional library preparation for ATAC sequencing; 7) Optional sequencing of accessible genome; 8) Optional analysis of ATAC sequencing data. The vendor must provide free courier services for temperature-sensitive samples, which will be stored and shipped with dry ice. If samples are damaged during transit, the vendor will replace them at no cost. Period of Performance Base period from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, with options for additional years extending through March 31, 2030. Place of Performance Department of Veteran Affairs, Portland VA Medical Center, 3710 SW US Veterans Hospital Rd, Portland OR, USA.
