Summary (Newest Update)
Background The National Park Service Contracting Operations (ConOps) Central, Nekota Major Acquisition Buying Office is issuing a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the Mill & overlay project at the Minuteman Missile Historic Site. The goal of this contract is to repair and enhance the access road and parking area to ensure safety and accessibility for visitors. Work Details The project involves milling the existing asphalt driveway and parking area pavement to a depth of 3/4 inch. For the parking area south of the existing structure, an asphalt overlay will be provided with a minimum thickness of 1 inch at the south edge and a minimum of 2 inches at the north edge, ensuring a slope of 1.0-2.0% for positive drainage. The access driveway will receive an overlay with a minimum thickness of 1 inch across its entirety. Additionally, the failed 2-inch asphalt pavement surrounding the helicopter landing pad will be demolished, with existing aggregate base material compacted before providing a new 2-inch asphalt surface in a single lift. The total area for mill and overlay is estimated at 2,300 square yards, while the area for demolition and replacement around the helicopter landing pad is estimated at 550 square yards. All pavement markings will be reapplied to match existing conditions, disturbed areas restored, and grades adjacent to paved surfaces adjusted accordingly. Period of Performance The performance period is anticipated to be 90 calendar days after issuance of Notice to Proceed. Place of Performance 4.5 Miles Northwest of the Minuteman Missile National Historic Site Visitor Center, 24545 Cottonwood Road, Philip, SD 57567.
