Background The New Jersey Healthcare System at Lyons Campus, part of the Department of Veterans Affairs, has a requirement for comprehensive inspection, testing, and maintenance services for their fire protection systems. The goal of this contract is to ensure the safety and functionality of fire protection systems within the facility, which includes portable fire extinguishers, monitored fire alarm system components, kitchen hood suppression systems, and fire sprinkler systems. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for quarterly, semi-annual, and annual inspections, testing, and maintenance of various fire protection systems. Specific tasks include: - Performing annual inspections of 349 fire extinguishers per NFPA 10. - Recycling and replacing 50 extinguishers. - Conducting annual flow tests on 2 fire pumps in accordance with NFPA 25. - Performing annual inspections on 10 sprinkler backflow preventers. - Conducting quarterly main drain testing at all backflow preventer locations. - Performing semi-annual inspections of 17 buildings with wet and dry sprinkler systems. - Conducting semi-annual testing of 13 kitchen hood suppression systems. - Inspecting tamper switches (197) and waterflow switches (124). - Maintaining 40 fire hydrants including full flow testing. - Replacing expired sprinkler heads (up to 500 per year). All work must adhere to the most recent NFPA standards. Period of Performance The contract will be performed over a base period of one year from March 1, 2026, to February 28, 2027, with four additional option years extending through February 28, 2031.
