This is a Request for Information in accordance with FAR 15.2. Requesting information on interested vendors that can provide Services/Supplies. Upgrade or Replace existing real-time Alaska lightning Detection System

Summary (Newest Update)

Background The Alaska Fire Service (AFS), located at 1541 Gaffney Road, Fort Wainwright, Alaska, operates and maintains the Alaska Lightning Detection System (ALDS). This system includes multiple lightning detection sensors across Alaska, a server for processing data to generate strike locations, and a relational database for archiving lightning location data. The data is accessible to federal agencies, the state of Alaska, and the public via the AK Wildland Fire and Lightning Dashboard. The mission of AFS is to ensure effective fire management through real-time lightning detection and reporting. Work Details The objective of this Request for Information is to explore options for upgrading or replacing the existing ALDS. Potential options include: 1. Replacing the system with a data service that provides real-time lightning detection and reporting infrastructure in Alaska, with an annual subscription fee for service. 2. Upgrading or replacing existing hardware and software of the ALDS, ensuring secure authenticated encrypted connections between sensors and the central processing server, as well as to AFS software for real-time data retrieval. AFS would maintain ownership of collected data and manage an annual support agreement with the vendor for ongoing support and upgrades. Place of Performance The services will be performed in Alaska.
