Background The Alexandria VA Health Care System (AVAHCS) is seeking to establish a contracted water quality testing program for its Sterile Processing Service (SPS). This program is essential for ensuring compliance with the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards, specifically AAMI ST108, which outlines requirements for water quality in the reprocessing of reusable medical devices. The contract aims to mitigate risks associated with water impurities that can adversely affect medical devices and patient outcomes.
