This Design Guide is intended to facilitate the design process of NCA facilities, ensuring quality, efficiency, and consistency while controlling construction and operating costs. It supplements existing VA guides with specific NCA criteria and addresses general functional and technical requirements. Work Details The contract involves the planning and design of various functional areas within national cemeteries, including: 1. **Entrance Area**: Features such as entrance road, main entrance gateway, signage, decorative fence, wayfinding elements, and an avenue of flags. 2. **Public Information Center Area**: Includes public restrooms, visitor parking, cortege assembly area, gravesite locator. 3. **Administrative Area**: Offices for cemetery staff including a director's office, multipurpose room for meetings or training sessions, operations center for administrative tasks. 4. **Interment Areas**: Designated spaces for casketed and cremated remains including traditional gravesites, columbarium spaces, memorial walls. 5. **Maintenance Areas**: Facilities for maintenance operations including storage for equipment and materials. 6. **Honor Guard Area**: Space for volunteer honor guard members with necessary facilities. 7. **Donations & Assembly Area**: Areas designated for memorials donated by veterans' groups.
