Background The Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) Hazelton, part of the U.S. Department of Justice's Federal Bureau of Prisons, is seeking information to identify potential sources capable of supplying tamper-proof, lightweight wheelchairs designed for use in correctional environments. The goal is to ensure that the wheelchairs meet specific durability, safety, and tamper resistance requirements critical for secure settings. Work Details Vendors are requested to provide information regarding their ability to supply a total of 20 units, consisting of 10 standard-sized and 10 bariatric-sized wheelchairs. The required specifications include: - **Construction & Safety**: Tamper-proof design with no hollow cavities or tubing; all components must be solid to prevent concealment or weaponization. Durable, lightweight synthetic molded chair body with a total weight ≤ 35 lb. Materials must resist being tooled or sharpened into a weapon; metal is not permitted. - **Seat & Backrest**: Solid, contoured seat measuring 16"–18"; solid fabric seat back with non-removable or tamper-resistant attachment preferred. - **Mobility & Adjustability**: Ergonomically designed full-control handle molded into the chair side; flip-up, adjustable front footrests with interlocking mechanism; adjustable two-position armrests or securely fastened non-removable armrests; folding capability to a width of 13.5" with wheels attached; adjustable seat-to-floor angle and height; quick-release front rigging (optional). - **Color**: Any color acceptable.
