Background The West Virginia Purchasing Division is soliciting bids on behalf of the West Virginia Veterans Home to establish a contract for Pharmacist Consulting Services. This procurement may be funded in whole or part by federal funds. The goal of this contract is to ensure effective pharmaceutical services and supervision of the drug distribution system at the West Virginia Veterans Home, located at 512 Water Street, Barboursville, WV 25504. Work Details The Pharmacist will be responsible for the general supervision of the WVVH’s drug distribution system and pharmaceutical services, including: 1. General review of procedures for control and accountability of all drugs and biologicals to ensure compliance with federal and state laws. 2. Review of procedures for accurate acquiring, receiving, dispensing, and administering drugs to meet resident needs. 3. Maintenance of records for controlled substances allowing accurate reconciliation. 4. Monthly destruction of scheduled drugs. 5. Semiannual review of drug labeling for compliance with professional standards. 6. Monthly review of medication regimens for irregularities and notification to relevant medical staff. 7. Provision of monthly in-service education programs for staff as requested by the Administrator. 8. Arranging for another licensed pharmacist to provide services during any absence. 9. Responding to inquiries from WVVH within 24 hours. Period of Performance The contract will commence upon award and will continue until the completion of services as specified in the contract terms. Place of Performance West Virginia Veterans Home located at 512 Water Street, Barboursville, WV 25504. Bidder Requirements Vendors must ensure that their pharmacists are licensed to practice in West Virginia and covered by adequate professional liability and malpractice insurance. Additionally, vendors must be registered with the West Virginia Purchasing Division prior to contract award.
