Background The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is issuing this Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a brand name requirement from IPG Photonics Inc. The goal of this contract is to procure a high-power laser module that will be integrated into a modular vacuum chamber and laser enclosure, specifically designed for parabolic and orbital flight platforms. This procurement is set aside for small businesses. Work Details The contract requires the delivery of the following items: 1. Delivery fiber integral to the laser module: a. Core fiber diameter of 50 microns to limit spot size b. Length of 5 meters c. Armored or otherwise encapsulated to protect the optical fiber within 2. Laser module: a. Accepts DC input b. Outputs 1070 nanometer laser light at: i. 250 W continuous ii. 150 W average, 1500 W peak pulsed c. Mass is 25 kg or less d. Wall-plug power draw is 1100 W or less e. Includes Class 2 or lower guide laser f. Beam quality is 2 mm x mrad or lower g. Is a diode-pumped Yb fiber laser h. Has an (H)LC-8 connector for termination. Period of Performance These deliverables are expected by 12 weeks from the date of award. Place of Performance The products will be delivered to NASA/MSFC, Mail Stop EM31, 4639 Saturn Rd, Huntsville AL 35812.
