Background The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is issuing a contract for improvements to the Dredge Material Placement Facility (DMPF) as part of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW) project in North Carolina. The goal of this contract is to enhance the facility's capacity and efficiency in managing dredged materials, which is critical for maintaining navigable waterways and supporting environmental protection efforts. Work Details The scope of work includes: 1. Construction of new weirs, spillways, and stop logs as detailed in sheets S101, S105, and S109 to S114. 2. Raising the top of new dikes to an elevation of 18 feet NAVD88. 3. Establishing horizontal and vertical control for construction activities. 4. Clearing and grubbing in accordance with Section 31 11 00.10 'Clearing' of the specifications. 5. Grading the interior of diked areas to ensure free drainage to spillway risers. 6. Installation of temporary silt fences prior to commencement of work as directed by the contracting officer or representative. 7. Compliance with environmental regulations regarding wetlands protection around the placement area. Period of Performance The contract will be performed over a specified period that includes multiple phases, starting from initial site preparation through to final inspections and project completion. Place of Performance The construction projects will take place at designated sites along the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway in North Carolina.
