This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Part 12. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; offers are being requested, and a separate written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation number 1284LM26Q0011 is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Flexible Tree Netting Maintenance within the Second Creek Timber Sale, starting in fall 2026, and Planting Services within the Green Breen Timber Sale, to occur in Spring 2027. Background The USDA Forest Service is issuing this solicitation for tree planting and flexible netting maintenance on lands administered by the Lolo National Forest, Superior Ranger District. The goal of this contract is to ensure proper tree handling, planting, and netting installation to support forest regeneration efforts following timber sales. The work is set to commence in fall 2026 and spring 2027, focusing on the Second Creek Timber Sale and Green Breen Timber Sale areas. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, supplies (excluding government-furnished items), and incidentals necessary to complete the following tasks: 1. Tree Planting: This includes handling bareroot and container-grown trees, ensuring proper care during transport and planting operations. Trees must be planted according to specified depth and spacing requirements to promote survival and growth. 2. Flexible Netting Maintenance: Installation of flexible netting around young seedlings to protect them from browsing by big game. This includes adjusting netting height as needed and ensuring it does not damage the trees. 3. Access Management: Clearing access roads as necessary for equipment transport, managing locked gates, and adhering to safety protocols in areas with potential hazards such as snags or burned trees. 4. Quality Control: Implementing a quality control plan that includes plot inspections to ensure compliance with planting standards and reporting any issues with tree health or planting quality.
