Background The Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) is issuing this solicitation for the Hasty Point Rice Trunk & Levee Project, aimed at repairing damages caused by recent hurricanes and flooding. The project is critical for maintaining the integrity of a 43-acre wetland impoundment adjacent to the Great Pee Dee River, which has experienced erosion and damage to its levees and water control structures. The goal of this contract is to restore functionality to the water management systems within the refuge, ensuring the protection of wildlife habitats. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for providing all tools, labor, and materials necessary to complete the following tasks: 1. Remove old rice trunks and replace them with new ones at specified locations within the impoundment. 2. Install bulkheads on both sides of the dikes where rice trunks are replaced. 3. Repair four tractor bridges that cross canals in the area. 4. Backfill around bulkheads where necessary. 5. Mechanically remove invasive plant species from canals that are obstructing water flow. Specific requirements include: - For Rice trunk #1: Remove old trunk, fill hole with dirt, install a 20ft bulkhead on both sides, and place a new 32ft rice trunk 50ft west of the old location with specific elevation requirements. - For Rice trunk #2: Similar removal and installation as Rice trunk #1 but in its original location. Period of Performance The contract performance period is from February 23, 2026, to August 31, 2026.
