Seq) and Title 40 U.S.C. 501, Services for Executive Agencies, as implemented by FAR 8.405-6 and substantiated by FAR 8.405- 6(a)(1)(i)(A) An urgent and compelling need exists, and following the procedures would result in unacceptable delays. The A. Co Support Maintenance Company (SMC), 82nd ADSB has been given short notice for a pending deployment in support of Joint Task Force Southern Border.

Summary (Newest Update)

Background The justification is issued under Title III of the Federal Property and Administrative Services Act of 1949 and Title 40 U.S.C. 501, concerning services for executive agencies. The agency involved is the 82nd Airborne Division Support Battalion (ADSB), which has an urgent need due to a pending deployment in support of Joint Task Force Southern Border. The goal is to ensure continued maintenance support for critical fleet operations during this deployment. Work Details The contract involves increasing the number of contractor Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs) under the existing task order W91247-24-F-0320 to meet urgent maintenance requirements while A Co. Support Maintenance Company (SMC) is deployed. The analysis conducted by the 82nd ABD indicated that there was insufficient manpower available from existing service members at Fort Bragg to meet workload requirements. Not backfilling these positions would lead to a significant degradation in maintenance capabilities, with a projected 70% reduction in work order throughput capability during the deployment. The local Materiel Maintenance Division cannot provide the necessary pass back maintenance support, leading to a backlog of repairs and services for 193 customer units, including 33 within the 82nd Airborne Division and 160 within the XVIII Corps. Period of Performance The contract will be performed over a period of 12 months while A Co. SMC is deployed, with FTEs returning to original levels upon their return. Place of Performance The contract will be performed at Fort Bragg and potentially other locations as required by the mission.
