Background The Area Agency on Aging, part of Johnson County, Kansas, is seeking a qualified Food Service Operator to prepare and package nutritious meals for the Home-Delivered Meals and Congregate Meal programs. The goal is to support the health and independence of older adults by providing meals that meet federal and state nutrition standards. Work Details The contractor will provide the following services: 1. Prepare and package meals for older adults, including: - Cold breakfast meals three days a week (Tuesday to Thursday) - Hot or appropriate meals five days a week (Monday to Friday) - Frozen meals for weekends and holidays for Meals on Wheels clients - Weekly frozen meal delivery for clients awaiting home-delivered meals. 2. Meals must be prepackaged in single-serve trays (e.g., Oliver Products) with additional components in portion cups or bags. 3. Deliver meals to distribution sites and homebound clients. 4. Maintain the Nutrition Program Central Kitchen, which includes food service preparation equipment such as an automated tray/cup packaging system and storage areas for food products. 5. Ensure compliance with all applicable health codes and regulations regarding food safety and sanitation. Period of Performance The contract will be effective for approximately twelve months from the date of notice of award, with an option to renew for four additional twelve-month periods if mutually agreed upon by both parties. Place of Performance The services will be performed at the Nutrition Program Central Kitchen located at Johnson County Health Services Building, Olathe, KS. Bidder Requirements Bidders must have a minimum of five years of experience in food service, particularly with older adult meal programs like Meals-on-Wheels or Home Delivered Meals.
