Background

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Central Iowa Health Care System, is issuing a presolicitation notice for a construction project at the Des Moines VA Medical Center. The goal of this contract is to replace the Boiler Plant Brine Tank, which is essential for the facility's operations. This project is set aside for 100% Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) in accordance with Public Law 109-461 and VAAR 819.7003(b). Bidders must be registered and certified in the SBA certification database as SDVOSB to be eligible for award. Work Details: The contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, etc., necessary to replace two brine generation tanks and one brine tank located in Building 11 with a system utilizing free-standing poly tanks. The work includes: - General construction - Alterations - Roads and walks - Grading and drainage - Necessary removal of existing structures - Construction of temporary equipment and power - Installation of temporary dust and entry barriers - Mobilization and demobilization - Site restoration - Cleanup in accordance with the contract documents. Period of Performance: The period of performance for this work is 365 calendar days from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed (NTP), which includes material lead time. Place of Performance: The construction projects will be performed at the VA Central Iowa Health Care System, Des Moines VA Medical Center, located at 3600 30th Street, Des Moines, IA 50310.
