Background The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Center for Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) has unique requirements for the capture, processing, monitoring, reporting, and distribution of scientific data in a timely manner. This is in support of the National Satellite Land Remote Sensing Data Archive (NSLRSDA) missions established by the Land Remote Sensing Policy Act of 1992. EROS has a statutory requirement to ingest satellite data from active Landsat missions via ground stations globally, connecting to the Landsat Ground Network (LGN), which is a USGS High Value Asset supporting Mission Essential Functions (MEF) 3-6 and 3-8, and Essential Supporting Activities (ESA) 7. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks: 1. Capture, process, monitor, report, and distribute scientific data in a timely manner as per NSLRSDA missions. 2. Ingest satellite data from active Landsat missions through ground stations worldwide connecting to the LGN. 3. Support the Landsat Archive and Landsat Product Generation System (LPGS) High Value Assets to ingest and distribute Landsat data and products to the public. 4. Ensure connectivity to LGN, cloud services, and partner institutions including NOAA N-Wave network and NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. 5. Utilize Internet2’s WAN backbone for unique interconnectivity between institutions involved in scientific research.
