Background The Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Corrections (DOC) is issuing this solicitation to establish a term contract for refuse removal services at the DOC Farmer's Market. The goal is to ensure the proper disposal of non-hazardous and non-infectious refuse generated by the market, located at 202 South Halifax Road, Jarratt, Virginia 23867. Work Details The contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, materials, landfill fees, fuel, and supplies necessary for refuse removal. Specific requirements include: A. Rental of three (3) front load dumpsters (6, 8, or 10 cubic yards) that are water-tight and rodent-proof. B. Scheduled emptying of dumpsters every Tuesday and Friday; adjustments for holidays must be made. C. Monthly disinfection of containers to maintain hygiene. D. Disposal of refuse in a permitted landfill by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality. E. Additional pickups upon request from the Purchasing Agency. F. Maintenance of dumpster appearance through repairs and repainting as needed. G. Provision of competent drivers with valid commercial driver’s licenses (CDL). H. Notification to the Purchasing Agency regarding any service interruptions due to weather or other issues. Period of Performance The contract will be for one year following the award date, with potential for renewal as specified in Section V, Paragraph E.
