Background The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is issuing this Request for Proposal (RFP) to engage a Prequalified Maintenance Contractor for concrete curb and gutter repairs along eastbound and westbound US-24 BL/Dixie Highway in Oakland County. The goal of this contract is to ensure the safe and efficient repair of infrastructure, which is critical to the agency's mission of maintaining transportation systems in Michigan. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for the following tasks: removal and disposal of existing concrete curb and gutter; installation of new concrete curb and gutter including Detail M openings; adjustment of catch basins; restoration work; providing traffic control; and any other defined work as specified in the contract. Specific requirements include: 1. Concrete curb and gutter repairs must adhere to MDOT 2020 Standard Specifications for Construction. 2. All work must be conducted under the supervision of an MDOT representative. 3. Traffic control measures must comply with MDOT guidelines, ensuring minimal disruption to traffic flow. 4. All materials used must meet specified standards, including aggregate base materials, steel bars, and concrete types. 5. Erosion control measures, including inlet protection during construction, are required. 6. Quality control measures such as independent third-party testing for concrete must be arranged by the contractor. Period of Performance The contract activities are expected to commence on February 15, 2026, with a completion deadline set for September 15, 2026. All work must be performed continuously within a timeframe of 120 consecutive calendar days, excluding authorized extensions. Place of Performance The work will be performed along US-24 BL/Dixie Highway between Telegraph Road and Big Lake Road in Oakland County, Michigan. Bidder Requirements Bidders must be currently listed as MDOT Prequalified Contractors in categories J – Concrete, C, C&G and Ea – Grading, Drainage Structures & Agg. Cons. Additionally, all subcontractors must also be prequalified by MDOT. Bidders are required to provide proof of registration with the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) for State Project Contractors. The contractor must furnish performance and lien bonds each for not less than 100% of the total contract price.
