Background

The Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking industry partners to engage in collaborative projects within the Grid Research Integration and Deployment Center (GRID-C). The goal is to accelerate the development and deployment of grid-integrated power electronics technologies. This initiative supports the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Transformer Resilience and Advanced Components (TRAC) Program, which aims to enhance the integration of grid systems and clean energy resources through innovative power electronics technologies, thereby improving the global competitiveness of the United States.

Work Details

Participants are expected to develop next-generation technologies for grid modernization, focusing on areas such as: 1. Materials & Components for grid devices, power electronics systems, and grid storage devices. 2. Embedded Controllers including integrated advanced analog and digital electronics and sensing devices. 3. Subsystems Devices and Interfaces like converters, inverters, controls and protection systems, prototypes, solid-state components protection, and transformers. 4. Resource Integration & Management Systems involving multi-stage converters, software platforms, and algorithms. 5. Grid Systems Architecture with real-time systems modeling and evaluation. 6. Grid Modeling and Transient Analysis. Projects should aim at hardware or software design, application or use case development, modeling and simulation for system integration impact, test and evaluation of proposed technology or solutions, or small-scale prototyping in relevant environments.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
