Background

The Prototype Integration Facility (PIF), part of the Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Aviation and Missile Center located at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, has a requirement to procure a Torque Measurement System. This system is intended to interoperate with a Variable-Geometry, Radial Outflow Compressor (VAROC) Air Dynamometer 250 and the T408 aircraft engine, supporting the Flexible Engine Diagnostics Systems (FEDS).

Work Details

The contractor shall provide a V250 / T408 Torque Measurement System Kit which includes: - TMS Module / Shaft to engine components: spline adapter and splined hub, if necessary.

TMS Plumbing

- TMS Calibration Kit with weights - Electronics: Signal processor, Rotastat Control and 90 ft. cable. Additionally, the contractor will conduct a V250 Application Study for the T408 Aircraft Engine, evaluating the V250 Dynamometer concerning testing objectives and configuration needs for the GE T408 Turboshaft Engine. The contractor will define specific interphase requirements considering test plans that include inertia requirements, speeds, and power. Deliverables from this study include: - Special Rotor consideration for inertia requirements - Identification of torque measurement equipment such as torque meters, interconnect shafts, and electronics. - Upon determining the appropriate torque meter system, CN will update or generate new drawings and documents to enable life solutions.
