Summary (Newest Update)

Background The United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine Epidemiology Laboratory (Epi Lab) is seeking a fully automated, walkaway, fully integrated blood banking analyzer to enhance their capabilities in immunohematology testing. The goal of this contract is to establish a five-year cost per test agreement for the provision of instrumentation, middleware software, reagents, and support necessary for automated pre-transfusion testing of patient and donor specimens. Work Details The contract requires a blood banking platform capable of performing the following immunohematology tests: ABO/Rh Group, Antibody Screen (3-cell), Serial Dilutions for Titration Studies, and Quality Control (QC) Testing. The projected workload volume is approximately 30,000 tests during the base year with a 20% increase each subsequent year. Key specifications include: - Use of column agglutination technology with gel cards. - Fully automated serial dilutions for Group O specimens. - Automation of blood bank processes including liquid pipetting, reagent handling, incubation, centrifugation, reaction grading, and interpretation. - Non-proprietary system liquids. - Up to 24 hours walkaway time and continuous specimen loading capability. - Compliance with FDA regulations and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) standards. - Capability to interface with the Defense Health Agency's MHS GENESIS laboratory information system. - Provision of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for hazardous materials and guidelines for waste disposal as per local and national regulations. Place of Performance United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine Epidemiology Laboratory, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH.
