This contract aims to ensure the preservation and operational readiness of generator sets (gensets) held in layup, safeguarding them from corrosion and ensuring their availability when needed. The contract consolidates various needs into a single comprehensive approach to genset management, promoting efficiency and maximizing the lifespan of these critical assets. Work Details The Contractor shall perform genset preservation and layup every six months which includes: basic maintenance tasks such as turning the engine manually, checking the battery, ensuring the generator set is dry and protected; conducting complete visual inspections to identify issues like leaks or unusual wear; sealing air intake and exhaust openings to prevent moisture entry; cleaning the engine as necessary; applying Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) oil to prevent internal damage; pre-lubricating and rotating the diesel engine during preservation; inspecting and replacing desiccants as required. Additionally, the contractor will provide supervisory support for genset installation on the USS Blue Ridge including disassembly oversight, onboarding guidance, assembly supervision, initial alignment support, final alignment support using precision tools and vibration analysis, comprehensive documentation, certification, brief training for shipyard personnel during light-off phases including pre-light-off inspection. Place of Performance The primary place of performance will be aboard the USS Blue Ridge.
